Clear As Day Cleaning Services

A brand and WordPress site built from a standing start for a veteran-owned exterior cleaning business in Darlington, with a quote request built to hand straight into the job software Liam and Jenna already run on.

Brand from scratch

There was a logo and nothing built out past it. We built the colour system, tone and page structure the site needed, rather than working from a template with their name dropped in.

One request, one destination

The form on the site doesn't calculate a price. It hands the enquiry straight into Squeegee, the job software Liam and Jenna were already training on, so there's one place jobs get managed, not two.

Real jobs, not stock

Every photo on the site is a Clear As Day job. Fifty-plus images went through two rounds of picture swaps before launch.

About Clear As Day

Clear As Day Cleaning Services is a veteran-owned exterior cleaning business run by Liam and Jenna Day, covering window cleaning, gutter vacuuming, fascias and soffits, and conservatory deep cleans for homeowners and businesses around Darlington. Liam set the business up after leaving the Army, and the site needed to carry that story without leaning on it too hard.

The need

They came to us with a logo and not much else. No live website, no brand voice document, and no fixed idea of how quoting should work online. Jenna said it plainly on the brief: they liked bits of two competitor sites they had found, but weren't confident making the calls themselves, and wanted our judgement on what would actually work rather than a template with their name dropped in.

What they came to us with

  • A logo and a set of brand colours, nothing built out past that
  • Two competitor sites they liked elements of, no fixed direction of their own
  • No brand voice document to write the site from
  • A decision still to make on what the quote request should actually run on

The insight

The obvious build here is a multi-step online quote calculator, the kind that asks for property size and number of windows and spits out a number. We didn't build one. Liam and Jenna had already started training on Squeegee, a job management platform built for window and exterior cleaning businesses, and were going to run their scheduling and invoicing through it regardless of what the website did. Building a second, separate quoting system on the site would have meant two sources of truth and manual re-entry between them.

So the site does one thing well: a short, human request form that hands the enquiry into the system they already use to run the business day to day. Less on the page, more that actually works once someone submits it.

What we built

Brand first. We took the existing logo and lion mark and built out a working colour and type system from it, since none existed before this project. The sitemap and page structure were sketched with Liam and Jenna's two reference sites as a starting point, then rebuilt around what a Clear As Day customer actually needs to see: services, real work, and a fast way to ask for a quote.

The site covers four services (window cleaning, gutter vacuuming, fascias and soffits, and conservatory deep cleans), an about page introducing Liam and Jenna directly, and the legal pages a business handling customer data and using a pure water cleaning system needs to have in place: terms and conditions, a privacy policy, and an environmental policy specific to how the business operates.

Photography went through two full rounds. Liam and Jenna sent through real job photos and named, page by page, exactly which stock-feeling images they wanted replaced with their own work. That level of back and forth is unusual, and it shows on the finished site. Nothing on it is a placeholder.

Mobile

Nobody looking for an exterior cleaner is sat at a desktop. They're checking a phone before they call, and Liam and Jenna are checking job requests from a van between appointments. The build was tested against that use case rather than a monitor in an office.

The quote button, always in reach. The header keeps the quote link and the phone number visible on every scroll, on every page, so the route to a quote is never more than a glance away.

The outcome

The quote form has brought in 58 enquiries on its own, on top of hundreds more that have come by phone and email in the same period. That's the split you'd expect for a business that has built its name on being reachable, the site adds a route in without becoming the only route in.

Search is doing real work too. Organic search now accounts for 39% of the site's traffic, with a further 47% coming in direct, people who already know the name and typed it straight in. Both are healthy signs for a business that launched with no site and no search history to build on.

Showing up for the right searches

The site ranks for its own name and for the unbranded, buyer-intent terms that actually bring in work, "window cleaner near me", "window cleaners darlington", "window cleaning darlington", picking up real impressions across all of them within months of launch. That spread across branded and unbranded terms is what on-page SEO done properly at build stage looks like, not an afterthought bolted on later.

Engagement once people land

Getting found is one problem. What people do once they arrive is another, and this is where the site holds up best. Pages are engaging with little to no bounce, the quote page holds visitors for close to four minutes at a 71% engagement rate, and the about page sits at 100%.

This was a fixed-scope build and handover, not a retainer. Clear As Day own the site outright, and Liam and Jenna have run it themselves day to day since launch, without an ongoing support plan with us.
