At just 17 years old, Finn Leslie has landed a seat most drivers spend decades chasing. This weekend, he will take to the grid with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA in the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park, joining one of the most respected teams in UK motorsport. Finn Leslie enters BTCC, marking an important milestone in his career.
It’s a meteoric rise that’s come not from hype, but from hard graft, natural class and a track record of turning opportunity into outright performance.
Finn’s journey began like many others – at just eight years old, in karting. But unlike many others, he didn’t just compete, he collected wins. In 2022, he lifted the Kartmasters Grand Prix title, one of the biggest prizes in British karting.
By 2023, he was racing in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, where he stormed to the Mk7 class crown in 2024 after turning heads with a debut win at Silverstone. This year, he stepped up again to TCR UK with Power Maxed Racing, where he currently sits fifth overall, already securing podiums and running consistently at the sharp end.
And now? Now he’s the youngest driver in a 25-car BTCC field.
Oulton Park will be Finn’s first BTCC weekend, but he’ll be surrounded by a team with experience in spades. His stablemates Gordon Shedden, Árón Taylor-Smith and James Dorlin have all tasted success at the Cheshire circuit, and the Speedworks-run outfit knows every bump, crest and braking zone like the back of its hand. Their workshop is just ten miles away.
The Corolla GR Sport is a proven winner at Oulton, and Finn’s calm confidence suggests he’ll get to grips with it quickly. Despite limited seat time, he’ll head into qualifying with a realistic mindset and a clear ambition to make an impression.
“Growing up watching BTCC on TV, it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to compete in this championship,” he said.
“It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do since the beginning of my career, so to be able to say I’ll be on the grid this weekend is an incredible opportunity and honestly means the world to me. It’s a dream come true.”
And for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA, this isn’t a random wildcard. As Team Principal Christian Dick put it:
