If you’re following a Facebook Page for updates, offers or events, the last thing you want is to miss a post because Facebook has buried it under dog memes and holiday photos. Here’s how to get notifications from a Facebook page and take control of your feed to make sure you never miss an update from your favourite businesses.
Why You Might Not See Everything
Following a Page doesn’t guarantee you’ll see everything it posts. Facebook’s algorithm decides what it thinks is most important for you. If you want to be the one in charge, you’ll need to tweak a couple of settings.
Steps to Make Sure You See Page Posts
How to Get Notifications from a Facebook Page
On a Mobile Device (Facebook App)
- Go to the Facebook Page you want to follow
- Tap the ‘Following’ button or the three dots, then tap ‘Following’
- Under ‘In Your Feed’, choose ‘Favourites’
- Tap ‘Edit Notifications’ or ‘Manage Notifications’
- Under ‘Posts’, choose ‘Standard’ or ‘Highlights’
- You can also switch on notifications for Live Videos, Events and other updates

On Desktop (Browser)
- Visit the Facebook Page
- Click the ‘Following’ button
- Under ‘In Your Feed’, choose ‘Favourites’
- Under ‘Notifications’, select ‘Standard’ or ‘Highlights’
- Click the pencil or edit icon to choose which types of content you want to be notified about
What Do These Settings Do?
Favourites moves the Page’s content higher in your News Feed.
Standard notifications will alert you whenever the Page posts something new.
Highlights gives you a nudge now and then for the content Facebook thinks is most important.
Extra Tips
- You can follow as many Pages as you like but only 30 can be set as ‘Favourites’
- If you stop seeing updates, double-check the settings haven’t reset
- Try turning notifications off and back on again if they aren’t working
Who Should Use This?
Anyone who follows a Page for key updates – whether it’s a local gym, motorsport academy, nursery or heating engineer. If a business shares things that matter to you, don’t leave it up to Facebook to decide whether you see them.
