OTM driver Bertie Bream has begun early preparations for his 2026 racing campaign, using the opening months of the year to reset, refocus, and build the foundations required for the season ahead.

While January has been a quieter period on track, it has played an important role in shaping Bertie’s approach to 2026. With a demanding season on the horizon, the focus has shifted towards structure, consistency, and preparation away from race weekends.

Laying the foundations for the 2026 season

Following the Christmas and New Year break, Bertie returned to a full routine, balancing college commitments alongside his motorsport programme. Re establishing structure early in the year has been a priority, ensuring discipline is maintained even during the off season.

With limited on track activity during the winter months, maintaining focus away from the circuit is seen as essential. January has provided the opportunity to reset routines and ensure the groundwork is in place before testing and racing resume.

Pre season fitness and conditioning

A major focus throughout January has been returning to training and rebuilding pre season fitness. After time off over the festive period, Bertie has prioritised regaining strength, endurance, and overall conditioning to prepare for the physical demands of the year ahead.

At this stage, training has centred on general fitness rather than race specific requirements, with the aim of creating a strong base to build upon as the season approaches. Consistency remains the key focus, with the work done now expected to pay dividends later in the year.

Reflecting on progress from 2025

January has also offered time to reflect on a productive 2025 season. The past year marked a period of significant development, gaining valuable experience in car racing and delivering competitive performances against strong opposition.

Reviewing last season has helped highlight areas of progress as well as aspects to continue developing, both on and off the track. These reflections are now shaping the goals and approach heading into 2026.

Planning and partnerships for 2026

Alongside training and reflection, Bertie has been actively working to secure additional partners for his 2026 GT Cup campaign. Building the right support network is a crucial part of competing at this level, and early conversations have focused on creating long term, performance aligned partnerships.

Although January may appear quiet from the outside, it represents a key phase in the overall process. Preparation, planning, and consistency during the winter months are what allow performance to follow once the season begins.

With 2026 approaching, Bertie Bream remains focused on putting the work in early and ensuring he is fully prepared when the new season gets underway.
